How we build it
Each natural stone walkway is laid stone-by-stone to fit the site. The result is a path that looks like it's always belonged there.

Natural stone has a character all its own
Hand-set natural Stone Walkways have a quality that manufactured products simply can't replicate. Each stone is unique — its color, texture, edge, and weathering all telling a small story. A natural stone walkway looks like it has always belonged in your landscape, even on the day it's installed. Over years and decades, it only gets better as moss, lichen, and patina add depth.
Setting natural stone properly
Natural stone is heavier, more variable, and harder to set than uniform pavers. Each piece needs to be hand-fitted, cut where necessary, and placed for both visual flow and structural stability. We can install stone walkways either mortared (set in mortar over a concrete base for the most permanent installation) or sand-set (laid on a compacted base with sand or polymeric joints, allowing for plant material in the joints).
Local stone options
Central Oregon's regional quarries supply beautiful basalt, granite, and quartzite that fit naturally into our landscapes. We also source flagstone from regional suppliers in tan, rust, and gray-blue tones. Bringing samples to your home is part of every stone project — light and context matter enormously when choosing natural stone.
Stone Walkways FAQs
Both work. Planted joints with creeping thyme or Irish moss look soft and organic; sand or polymeric-filled joints are tighter and lower maintenance.
